For some reason I have a love for China>Rider in the first set. can't explain it. I was trying to listen to as many as I can. Can anyone help narrow down the options? Right now the last first set C>R I have is May 1989 at the Frost. Anyone know if there is one that happened after this?

Almost always first or second song of the second set after that. I don't know of many exceptions. Giants 6/16/91 it was third song, second set. 11/3/91 at Bill Graham memorial, but that was only one set.

One of the great first set versions comes from Boulder in 1981, this one really rips. There are also a couple from 79-80 that kicked off the 1st set.

This one wasn't in the first set - sorry bout that but I like to mention it when China Rider comes up.

It's was a Dick Pick so no SBD but that's okay. No other version shows Garcia's versatility in different styles more then this one. It's like starting at the ocean in Southern California and driving up into the mountains and being amazed by all the landscape changes in such a short period of time.

How about in the middle of the set, leaving closing honors for PITB? http://www.archive.org/details/gd1973-06-22.mtx.seamons.92375.sbeok.flac16 This is one for the ages...

Decent show with a monster Phil mix. China/Rider isn't even the 1st set closer:

I'd head to 72-74. You could probably throw a dart and do OK. If you want to be electrocuted, try this one.

And at my age, I'm still with stupid. How do you enter a live link? I know this is quite repetitive, but there it is.

Wow. Interesting. I searched through Deadbase IX and it seems that the May 89 Frost show was the last time they played C>R in the first set.
